While most porches are made of wood or concrete, you have a porch made of flagstone. A stone porch can add a lot of character to a house.

First, because the stone is going to be incredibly hard (harder than your car will be able to handle), use a tractor to move the stone from the pile of stone, "where they built the porch.

Use a shovel to mix the cement needed in a container that is placed on the porch pad (which should be concrete). After giving a thorough cleaning pad porch, shovel, a little mortar on it. This mortar should work even in front of the house. This is also where the first stone will be installed.

Use a spatula to spread evenly mortar and then make your first stone porch instead. This is the stone that will be the entry at home, so you should make sure to use a piece that is attractive and will compliment the home entryway. Make sure the first stone was placed very carefully. Use your hands to work down into the mortar. This will ensure good adhesion and contact occurs between the surface of flagstone, porch and cement pad that you use.

Use a level to make sure that specific piece pitched very, very slightly away from the front door threshold. This is to keep moisture in the house. Slope will drain moisture away from the door. In doing so keeps moisture well away from the crawlspace floor and bar.

From this stone first, you can position more stones. Make sure they are a good choice and then put them in places they will go. Use your hands to pack cement, which is only a little drier between the stones.

This process is repeated. Stay with stones positioning sure they are good fit and that they create the appearance you are going for. Most people go for a uniform, but might prefer something more mottled. It's up to you. Use of each stone mortar to serve as a kind of grout. This grout "fills the spaces between the stones and block also each stone in place. After the mortar has dried completely, you have a solid porch.

With a stone porch can help make your home stand apart from other houses in your neighborhood. It is often more durable than wood and will last longer before needing to be replaced. It is also mostly free to Log Homes and front porch, which are built using an open position and design side.
